Please come visit, May thru September. The Log Cabin is fully equiped, with queen bedroom downstairs and a double and pull-out sofa in the loft. This one bath unit has a compact, fully equiped kitchen. Three decks provide great views of both the La Plata mountains and Mesa Verde.
We are requesting a multi-night stay this year. Also, give us a call. We enjoy talking to our guests before they make their reservation and can often suggest add'l activities in the area to enhance your vacation. A direct reservation may also save you some money. In particular, please rear guard if your plans cannot accommodate a two night stay - we may have options that don't show on the online reservation system.
Mesa Verde National Park is of course the primary draw. Cliff dwellings built in the 1200s are unique and a facinating look into history. Imagine how these stone age people built these wonderful "four story" apartments and why they left (lots of theories, but still not known for sure).
We are 10 miles outside the national park entrance. At the entrance, the Visitor Center is where you get tickets and schedule for the cliff dwelling tours of Cliff Palace, Balcony House or Long House.
If convenient in your travel plans, we recommend you stop in the day before to make sure space is available for the times you desire. In planning your visit, remember that it is a BIG park. We are 10 minutes to the entrance, but it is another 45 minute drive from the park gate to the actual cliff dwellings.
Sue and Bob have owned / operated Sundance Bear for over 20 years. We greatly enjoy visiting with guests and sharing the wonders of the Colorado Four Corners region - and calling many of them friends. Come say hello!
Guest Dogs and Horses can come to visit. We have a resident dog and cat. We welcome guest dogs in the log cabin and horses enjoy a loafing shed and large paddock.
Sorry, ours is the only cat allowed.
Please let us help you enjoy the Old West and our pre-history. Extend your stay after Mesa Verde and enjoy the Durango-Silverton Narrow Guage Railroad, hiking, horseback riding, biking and more.
